Hi. Is it you folk that did the old mans beard removal on the Takaka Hill ? I do quite a bit of cycling around the Motueka district and have noticed the huge amount of old mans beard up the Westbank Road all the way to Woodstock – at the littel Pokororo river it is very bad with whole pine tress engulfed with the stuff. I would personally be keen to get out and help support a project to tidy/spray some of this up

I was walking torrent Bay to Falls River yesterday and noticed lots of small trees and seedlings which to me look like a eucalypt leave or something similar – did not look like a native plant. I’ve had looked at the parks management plan to see what plant pests there are and I could not work out what it is. Perhaps I’m wrong and it is a native. The closest leave type look like a Tawa, but I think that is a different leaf all together. Can you tell me what that I think it might be an Australian plant that was invading. Any ideas?
